According, to (David Schechter) of channel eight news this story has been going around for years in the Dallas community of White Rock Lake. The story of the lady of white rock is about a woman or young girl that drowns in an automobile accident. Several people that live in the lakeside houses has had an encounter with the ghostly white figure that knocks at the door wanting to use the phone to call for help, but when the home owner returns the young girl vanishes, only to leave a puddle of water behind. Beware of going for a drive around the lake's path at night. A ghostly white figure will appear in wet clothing standing alongside the road hitchhiking. Some drivers have stopped to help the young woman. The young woman gets in the back seat of the automobile and gives directions to her lakeside home. The driver will get out and knock the ghosts home only to find out the young woman drowned sereval years ago in an automobile accident. The driver will return to the car only to find out a puddle of lake water has been left behind and the young girl vanishes into thin air. The book named The Vanishing Hitchhiker: American Urban Legends and Their Meanings, written by Jan Brunvand is named after this urban legend.
