Since the 1930's, According to Jan Harold Brunvand, on website www.ghostinmysuitcase.com people have seen a ghostly white figure wearing a white dress walking around White Rock Lake. The story was told like this in the book titled "The Ghost of White Rock Lake" by Anne Clark : A driver one night took a drive around White Rock Lake  in Dallas, Texas. The driver saw a woman in wet clothing standing beside the road hitchhiking. The driver stops to pick the woman up and sits in the back seat. She gave instructions to the driver to give her a ride to her lakeside home. When the driver stopped to the destination the woman disappeared leaving a puddle of water in the back seat. The driver got out of car and knocked at the door. An older gentleman answered the door and told the driver the girl was a ghost. He explained that the ghostly white figure was his little girl and drowned in an automobile accident years ago. She only appears on the anniversy of her death.
